Anyone know of a good program that will take my cd's and convert them to mp3's ? I am looking to convert my whole cd library over and create an mp3 / jukebox server. I am trying to avoid a two step process (cd to wav, then wav to mp3).

Thanks:)

I like using gRip. It's a good frontend and has built in CD Ripper support.

Also get the Lame mp3 encoder. It's pretty good.

If you're using an IDE cdrom make sure DMA is enabled. This makes things a little quicker.

Check out

Hope that helps!

there is a whole host of ripper encoder applications that will do what you want. grip and ripperx are common ones. you may also consider ripping to oggs. ogg is an open source decoder and encoder that has much less loss (some say losssless but i would disagree). mp3 is not a full opensource encoder/decoder.
