gaim

I am new to the Linux game by virtue of a screwy windows system that needs a swift kick to the you know where. I was wondering how to get gaim and or licq registered/setup/operating or whatever it is I'm supposed to do with it. Help me! I am currently clueless!!!!:confused: :confused: :confused: :confused:

It should come with your distro, so just install it the same you did your other packages and type gaim & in a terminal.

I did that and it came up with the gaim window and <new user>. What now? How do I login at all...? Setup my own account as it were.

You have to load the plugins for the protocols you wish to use (i.e. yahoo, icq, msn etc.) then go to the account section and add each account.
