Hey all,

Ok, so I have an ASUS A7V333-R motherboard running raid 0 (the striping one, whichever that is). I had no problems installing RedHat 7.2 on the system, which I was very pleased with for some time. But now that I am trying to update programs, they seem to all require one thing or another, so I thought that maybe installing 8 would solve some problems. I tried using the raid drivers that worked for 7.2, thinking that maybe since they worked for an older version, the would work for the new one, but this was not the case. The install tells me that it cannot find any devices to install the OS. Does anyone have any questions/suggestions as to this problem? anything would be helpful. Thanks!

Not a lot to suggest. You could move to VL, Mandrake, SuSe, or another distro that supports it out of boxx, and RH 9 might, but otherwise, you're pretty much out of luck. I had the same problem with my onboard raid.

i tried installing SuSE 8.1 also on an Asus mobo with onboard raid. the installer found the drives (2x 40 gb) corretly as one 80gb and i could easily partition and install all software on them. unfortunatly the bootloader, grub, could not be found when i first rebooted the system after installation. instead it showed: "L 1 01 01..." several lines of "01".

how should i partition the drives and where should i place /boot so it can be found?
