ThinkPad 701c

I recently found myself the proud owner of an IBM ThinkPad 701c (the one with the butterfly keyboard) that needs a little work, and as soon as the thing is once again functioning plan on installing the world's favorite open source OS...which leads me to the next part of what I have to say, that being: Does anybody have any suggestions as far as distros to use on this? because its so old, I'm not sure what distros the hardware will work with....thanks...

I could suggest lots of distros that MAY work on that laptop though I think you would be better off looking up your laptop/model at http://www.linux-laptop.net/ to see which distros others have had success with.
