I would like to be able to print.

I have a HP 970C connected to a WinME machine on my home network (MSHOME). I don't have any problem printing from THIS box when I am running Win2k, but I can't get anything to print while I am booted Mandrake-Linux on this machine.

OK guys!...what do I need to do?

My home network is routed thru a LinkSys DSL/Cable router. The WinME machine has a LinkSys NIC and this machine has a 3C905B NIC...probably doesn't make any diff..

One thing that you can try is to actually network your printer. i.e. give it it's own network address then set it up in Linux and Win ME. Note: this is only possible with printers that support networking. If your printer does not support networking then you'll have to print to the Win ME machine which will then print to the printer. I know that when one does this with Windows machines you need to install the printing software on all machines that want to print to that printer. I don't think you can do that in Linux, but you can do a search for printing to a serial printer over a network. Whatever you find should help you solve your problem.

Thx for the reply. My printer can NW but it needs a print server ($150) which I don't have.

Could you explain exactly how I perform the "print to the ME machine" which in turn does the printing?

...I am trying to figure out the "networking" FM (as in "RTFM") but as always...it's for Windoze.

I am lost...
