RH9 and ES1869

Trying to configure ES1869 on a Red Hat 9 system.

The sb module doesn't detect any ISA PnP, but says it detects the ES1869 chip. However, XMMS won't output any sound.

What must I do?:confused:

Also cannot get es1869, is it, to work.

The only sound I get is a 'pop' when the computer re-boots.

Put pnpdump generated file into /etc/modules.conf or something. No joy.

One thing that particulary worries me is it says 'no such device' if a file is sent to /dev/sdf - can't recall if its sdf, something like that. What is the name of the sound device? /dev/snd is a white/red flashing broken link.
