can someone tell me what this error is

When I try to install xmms I get this error

gnomexmms.c:24:applet-widget.h no such file or dir

Do I have to load this somehow???

your error message shows that it can't find a header file (basically a source file that is prewritten so developers don't have to reinvent the wheel each time).

are you trying to install and compile it? chances are that your headers are just not where your compiler/source files expect them to be. what distro are you using? also, have you tried installing an rpm made for your distro?

I am using mandrake 7.2 and I am installing from source. Havent tried installing an rpm yet.

xmms came with my Mandrake 7.2. Try typing "xmms" in a terminal (without quotes) and see if it is already installed. If not the rpm should be on either the install or extended CD.
