I have set up a ssh server on my machine, so that I can tinker when I am away. I decided I wanted to install gnump3d to stream mp3's here is my problem: It requires an unused port, and I am using a setup that requires port forwarding, my linksys router forwards most ports to my linux box, but not the new port I just established a need for, because I did not specify one previously. So I thought that I would log on to the web interface with links via ssh'ing to my machine at home. Unfortunately I do not know how I can login/pass to my linksys so that I can configure it and I do not have telnet set on it so I do not have that option either. That leaves me with the following questions
1. can I specify a login/pass to be entered when I go to a webpage that requires one in links?
2. can I locate something temporarily that uses an open port like apache on port 80 and shut apache down so that the port is free for gnump3 to use. I do not know how to locate and kill something like apache that runs as a daemon.
thanks as always
