Can anyone just tell me how to transfer files between Linux and Windows?

I don't want a server or anything like that. All I want is to be able to transfer some files between a Windows PC and a Redhat PC. I already have a working home network between my other windows pcs. I want my Linux pc to be able to "see" and transfer files with my windows ones.

Unfortunately, your desires are mutually exclusive.

You'll need to install Samba (http://www.samba.org).

Actually, you can just install ssh on both boxes (for windows, go get Putty from the net), then you can use ssh, scp to login and txfr files.
As ssh is fully encrypted, its a good idea to get in the habit of using it.

I'm trying to do the same thing, I have samba runing on linux RH 8.0 machine, but when I go to the other machine (where is instaled windows xp) I am able to see the linux pc, but when I double-click over it the folowing message apears :
"\\Merda is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions.

The network path was not found."

Could anyone tell me what else I have to do?
Thanks.

Oh, here you can just do Tools -> Map network drive then type in the drive.

For example:
\\Linux\Share1\

How can I see Windows XP drives/shared folders in Linux, or is that not possible? I probably need to install NTFS support to begin with (?) but how do I view the contents?
Thanks in advance!

You can use LinNeighborhood to view Windows shares in linux. What distro/version are you using??

Just go to Google and ask about LinNeighborhood. There's a few sites with specific RPMs and such.
