tricky kdm problems...

okay, I guess I spoke too soon. Still working on the new laptop. I have X working great, and I decided to load up the graphical logon instead of the CLI. It was working well until this evening...

From whichever account (login) and whatever *dm (kdm, gdm, xdm) I can login just fine, and X comes right up. But when I logout, it tries to go back to *dm and the screen turns black and the entire laptop freezes up. The keyboard doesn't respond and I have to hard reset the laptop to get anywhere, which of course invokes a fsck... ARG! Any ideas what caused this? (And yes I was tweaking settings, trying to get the nic working, but all I did [that I can remember] was to add in /etc/rc.d/rc.module a call for the eepro1 module and /etc/module.conf a few lines for the nic...)

Also, if I run entirely from the CLI, I can startx and then logout and then startx and then logout, et cetera, and it never freezes. So I know X is configured properly, it seems like a kdm config issue...

Any and all help is muchly appreciated. Thanks in advance...
