OK, I got a new computer (gnagna!) and I would like to get my Sound Blaster 128 working. I loaded the appropriate module (es1371, and Strike, no es1370 doesn't work on my box (I read your posts)), but when I want to play a mp3 on Xmms, I get no error message, but it stays stuck on the same timing and I have no output. Like if I put the song at 2:00, it will stay there, won't play and the time won't advance. Any ideas? And BTW, a Athlon 1Ghz is fast :D

You may have the es1373 chip which i believe is ct4750 or something. If so you're SOL. Look around in the archive's some more, I went over this under one of my previous multiple personalities.

Maybe you could cat "gnagna.wav > /dev/dsp" as root just to be sure xmms itself is not the problem?

lspci -v, do you see anything that looks related to your soundcard (ie the word "Multimedia" or maybe the IRQ that it uses)?

I might add that I've set up several SB 128 (and an onboard es1371), and I have never had any problems with them so far. modprobe es1371 and that's it :)
