Below is my problem,
recently just format second hdd, intend to install RH8 again for learning purpose. However, after RH8 installtion, my win2k startup slow down a lot a lot...and the problem is due to the Logical Disk Manager service, sometime can't even start.

If I reformat the second disk drive back to nothing (no file system on it), it startup properly, and the Logical Disk Manager server manage to run properly.

anyone can help on this? thanks.

From curiosity, what is a Logical Disk manager service? Does it scan the second disk? If it does, can you disable that function? Every once in a while I use XP, and I've never noticed that.

Logical disk manager service has the function to supervise the partitioning of the logical disks of window 2000. But I multiboot win2k with 5 other distros( including one freebsd ) without any ill effect.

Is it something unique to Win2000? I have WinXP home edition.
Also, did you use RedHat's native partitioning tools or this Logical disk manager? Is the file system type different than the other OS's on you drives?

I solved my problem by disabled the entire second hdd.
This didn't happen before, when I install my linuz on the same hdd.
I am using RH8 partitioning tool, and now boot with grub....all fine...:D
