Is there something like that? I know tomsrtbt that fits on one floppy, but is there something like tomsrtbt that is a bootable CD, preferrably dowbnloadable as .iso?

Thanks!

ftp.slackware.com

just make the iso into a cd, boot with it, and you have a sorta working distro running. Just don't enter the setup. You can mount drives, etc. but many of the typical linux commands won't be there - after all, the cd is meant for installing.

www.demolinux.org (http://www.demolinux.org)

Bootable cd that is an entire linux distro. Contains most of the stuff you would find on other distros but does not need to write to the hard drive (unless you want to save your stuff). It can mount floppy dirves, ext2 or vfat partions. If you have a lot of ram and and a fast cdrom drive, it works pretty well.

there is a good article a about this in the latest linux journel magazine, which i think also has the same stuff on the web.

Grab a Slackware boxed set, and Disc 2 is a fully functional, bootable CD, with a complete linux installation including X!!!

I used it on my boss once... ROFLMAO!

I'd need one that can mount ntfs partitions... I know tomsrtbt is able to do that, but I need it on CD.

the ntfs module is read only, which in my case really sucked, since i edited my boot file by hand (incorrectly) but it will read..

you can edit ntfs from the rescue disk however

Have a look at http://rescuecd.sourceforge.net/
It's the Timo's Rescue CD Set, I havn't tried it yet but with this tool you can build you own rescue CD and hence your own Linux system on a CD :-)
