Is there a console-based ICQ clone that can be run in the background while nobody is logged in? I've been using micq in console mode, but it won't let me logout with it running in the background (and I'm not even sure if it runs properly in the background).
Thanks.

I don't know of any. But instead of logging out of Linux, why not just lock your screen? You can use xlock in X. This way your ICQ session will still be running but no one can login. I'm not sure if this is what you want though.

Or use "screen" to have it run on a VT that you can disconnect/reconnect at will.

I've been using micq in console mode,
how did you get the console mode for micq?
are you referring to UI?
thx
