Do anyone have any problems (after upgrading) with kernel 2.4.x recognizing their modem? If so, how did you fix the problem? My system is:
'Drake 7.2
Boca 56K External (non-winmodem)
BTW: Everything worked when I had 2.2.17-21mdk kernel installed.

No problems here and I have done the upgrade to a couple of MDK 7.2 systems now. You shouldn't be having a problem unless perhaps you missed one of the serial port options - I think once when I configured the kernel and didn't include generic serial support or some such thing.

Tell me a little more about your modem.
The "kernelites" have been making some big changes, and some of those hit in the 2.4 release. You will notice that there are not nearly as many device drivers released with this kernel (most noticable is a driver for 3coms 3c905 pci ethernet card). Check and make sure your modem is still supported.
keep on rockin' in the free world . . .

I am pretty sure that the 3c59x driver works with the 3c905...

I'm wondering how you've decided that it's "the kernel" thats the problem.
What version of ppp are you using? Kernel 2.4 requires ppp-2.4. Could that be your problem?

Yes, I'm pretty sure. It worked ok with the previous version and then when I upgraded, it did not work. I've done that a few times.
