I'm sure there are others here who have been wondering about the success of your operation. So good to see you posting again! bdg1983 02-21-2001, 04:32 AM I was wondering that, too. Actually I was just about to post a topic about "where's mdwatts, is he back" because I was getting a bit worried but now that's not necessary. :) Wlcome back to LNO, mdwatts!! jenbass 02-21-2001, 07:44 AM Yup, I was very pleased to see your name in the posts again. I was waiting for an opportunity to make welcoming noises without embarrassing you. (Do Americans get embarrassed?). I know it's been on several of our minds. Take Care. :) FyberOptyx 02-21-2001, 08:11 PM Good to have you back MD How you doin' bdg1983 02-22-2001, 06:23 PM Thank-you everyone. Didn't want to make a big deal of my returning. I'm not doing too bad now. The hospital stay wasn't the greatest, but the care was the best and the medications I received for the side effects of the chemo and transplant were sufficient to keep me fairly comfortable. Was admitted on Jan 11 and released on the 26th., which I believe, broke the record of the shortest stay for a bone marrow transplant. Had homecare nurses coming over everyday to give me IV's and different medications to get my blood counts up. Will attempt to return to work around the 2nd week of March. The first couple of weeks being home I just didn't have the energy to do anything and now am able to spend some time among my friends here at LNO. Actually when I did attempt to use my laptop, I found my @home service no longer worked. Took nearly a week of excuses from them before they decided to replace the cablemodem. Due to only having a digital phone line in my hospital room, I couldn't use my laptop for web access. A couple of times before I was in strict isolation I was able to use one of the hospital PC's and spend a few minutes browsing around here. I did update my original post to thank you all for the prayers and best wishes. I was overwelmed by all the responses and they certainly boosted my spirits. Thank-you again for all your concern. Glad to be back Mike rod 02-22-2001, 08:25 PM MD... glad to see you back and hangin out at LNO again. Regards, Rod newmad 02-23-2001, 02:45 AM md - Welcome back, and congrats on your record short stay - I know that stuff ain't easy, went through it this past year w/my father. Prayers out to you, and keep hacking! :) bdg1983 02-23-2001, 05:10 PM Thanks again for all your concerns. To tell you the truth, I'm a bit surprised that I've been on so many of your minds. You have certainly lifted my spirits. Just a short note to update my recovery. Had the Hickman catheter removed today after putting up with it for 6 months. A Hickman is a single rubber tube that is inserted into the upper chest area under the skin, goes up a couple of inches and back down where the needle end is inserted into a major vein. On the outside, the tube splits into 2 and has clips and special contraptions on the ends. The catheter is used to either draw blood or to give iv medications. It's a relief to be finally rid of this. The freezing is starting to subside and it's beginning to hurt, so I won't be spending too much time here today. Regards Mike bdg1983 02-23-2001, 05:44 PM Forgot to ask... Does anyone have any hair they can donate to me? Oh well, should have some in a few months.
