I dont think WineX (from compile, not binary) does work with Mandrake 9.1. Beauce the version of Glibc is too new and WineX does not support it.
If this is true, does anyone think a new version of the CVS of WineX will support Glibc that mandrake 9.1 uses?

I find it hard to believe that mandrake would release a product that scraps compatibility with WineX since, infact, Mandrake Gamer's Edition is noted on WineX's website, and there has been close ties between the 2 for quite some time.
However, I have had an ungodly amount of trouble making the new WineX work in Mandrake 9.1. I can get any game to install, but when launched, I get the usual opening splash of every single game, then WineX just quits. I haven't seen any errors yet either.
Anybody else got thoughts? I would like to know if someone has made WineX 3 (in the form of the P2P install) work in Mandrake 9.1.

I have had pretty good luck with WineX 3 in 9.1. However, as stated in your previous posts, P2P is a pain. :(
I have stayed away from P2P and had absolutely no problems. A co-worker is using P2P and said he has been plaugued with problems. If you are comfortable with the CLI I would suggest you only install WineX 3 and stay away from P2P. :)
Mandrake 9.1 should be all set by default installation to contain all the files needed to make WineX 3 work. Let me know how you make out....
Note: If you have a GeForce chip, you may have some additional problems.

Yes, I do have a GeForce 4 MX card. What additional problems might I run into? Are there some additional driver flags that I need to turn on in order for winex 3 to work?(accelleration is enabled)
Any help is greatly appreciated. I love Battlefield 1942, and the reason I finally decided to pay for winex instead of doing cvs was to get the "Install Shield" support, none of which has worked yet.
Is there any other information that I could supply you with for troubleshooting? I'm afraid the log file doesn't explain too much.
Thanks for the help,

GeForce cards will present some problems... Currently I am using a Radeon and have had no serious trouble. However, I did try swapping in a GeForce card from another machine and I couldn't get WineX to do anything. Always crapped out.... :(
I think although the GeForce card may be really good, transgaming hasn't mastered the coding needed to make it work 100%. About the only thing I could recommend is, make sure your Nvidia drivers are the most current release.
If you have already installed P2P and WineX 3 try removing them both and then rebooting. When you get back into X, only install the rpm or deb version of WineX3. Let me know if you can play any games without P2P installed.
I agree, WineX3 error logs don't say much...
