Semi-Worthless Information Needed Please Reply!

Ok, this maybe a semi worthless thing to want but if nothing else I'll learn something from it and that is never a bad thing. My default tty colors are generated like the old IBM main frames (green on black is your friend) just occasionally a broadcast from root will show up and I'd LOVE to know how to make that apear in RED.

You'd need to send it with escape characters and such, sorta the way colors work in IRC. I've no idea as to which escapes and such tho.
