i did a search on this and only found posts with people who have problems with their software. im just wondering what is a good program that would let me capture .avi and all that good stuff.
oh and while im at it. whats the best video editing software on linux?

If you have XawTV, you can capture directly from there. However, you can grab mjpegtools. The latter of the two works from the CLI, but has a lot of flexibility and good documentation. It does have a simple GUI editor to handle what you have captured.

hrmmmm. i checked out that program on freshmeat.org and their site is down. any idea where i could find XawTV?
