Is there any program to protect my linux from DoS?

Well,I get flooded from damn people in irc
so often , so i want some program to protect my linux box from them. is there any?

take DOSh8er's steps to security: (These are surefire ways to keep you out of 'chin-nee' from personal experience..)

1) Enable 'Virus Protection' in BIOS, if so equipped. Usually this will save you from them screwing with your MBR and your Harddrive's partition info. ( I had to fscking reformat my hd cuz this happened)

2) Don't get people mad on the IRC, or provoke them by going into 'illicit' channels

3a) If using DOS/Windoze, use a FIREWALL (www.zonealarms.com works good, it's free!).

3b) If using linux (Wise choice my son), still get a firewall, there are several programs likened to firewalls avalible for linux. Although the linux OS itself is setup to block crap like that from happening.

4) Be aware of the kinds of things people can do you to in an IRC, know how it all works, and then prevent yourself from those things happening.

5) Use common sense

If there's anything else, please, go ahead and write it down. IF ALL ELSE FAILS, skip ahead to #4 and #5, those are what can really save your hide.
