Manual monitor settings.....

Hi all,

I have a new Samsung monitor that is not listed in the monitor settings for Mandrake 7.2 and 8.0 beta. How can I set the monitor's vertical and horizontal settings manually? I tried XF86Setup but it didn't work (may not be included in either distro).

Look at the section "Monitor" in your /etc/X11/XF86Config file (or XF86Config-4 or something if you have XFree 4). There are lines that say
"HorizSync # - #" and
"VertRefresh # -#"
Change them.

Or you may try running some other configuration tool, like xf86config or Xconfigurator.
