i was triple booting win2k, linux, win98.
i reformated the windows partitions.

i went to re-install win98 and i get a error n install SUWIN application error.

is this caused by the remaining linux partition?

if so how can i take it of to reinstall win98, then repartion and install linux?

lowlevel format? yuck

i realize i will get a answer like don install windows, hehe.
i have to though. :(

any help is appreciated.
thanks.

May be that you need to boot with a win startup disk and if not already done, fdisk & format. You also need to fdisk /mbr, otherwise lilo will try to mount root, which it will not find.

Some time ago I had installed 98, ME and Linux while the hd was on the Promise ATA100 controller and I had no problems.

After a while I had to reinstall 98 or ME and I got that damn SUWIN error. Why did it work the first time? The only thing I could think of, was now Linux and W2K were on the drive.

I ended up connecting the hd to the motherboard controller and once ME/98 was installed, I just moved it back to the Promise controller.

I spent quite a few days searching for a solution and received quite a assortment of reasons why this could/might happen.
