Gnome pannel color in RH9.0

I've just upgraded to RH9.0 and I'm using the gnome interface. I can change the panel color but when I log off and then back on again, it changes back to black and I can't see the clock text because it's also in black.

How do I get the color change to stay or change the clock font color?

Are you saving your session when you logout?

Oh, yeah, forgot to mention that. Yes I am saving my sessions..

I've tried manually (selecting to save session at logout) and setting it automatically.
