sendmail slow to startup

I'm using Mandrake 8.1 final and version of sendmail that came with it (8.11.6). It's taking around 4 minutes just for it to startup. Any ideas why? I've never used sendmail before but I can't imagine this being normal, correct me if I'm wrong.

I am not real expert in sendmail but I think the slowness is due to sendmail looking up some domain name.
