Having problems with The Mandrake 9.1 Installation

Hi, I just got linux, but i'm having some problems, one, video isn't working, it says it has a error when I go to test it, I have a Nvidia Geforce 4 mx 420, now I think it has something to do with the x free 4.3 package, it says it has an error installing it, it says if I want to continue or stop, I just click continue, also my modem doesn't detect which is a creative labs v.92 winmodem. Any suggestions on what I can do to fix my problems?

What kind or errors? Assuming that it is a driver issue do not start x on boot. I suggest download the latest drivers from nvidia. They have a good installation guide. Install drivers and once you get it working then you can switch back via Mandrake control center.
