Hi Folks,

I'm trying to do an FTP install of Mandrake as my box doesn't have a CD ROM attached. I downloaded the network.img and then used that to boot from. I was then asked to attach to the FTP server and directory and when I did that it said it couldn't find a certain file.

Here are the details that I was using
FTP Site:download.sourceforge.net
Directory :pub/mirrors/mandrake/8.1/i586

And no dice. Do I just need to try an alternate ftp site, or am I missing something.

Help greatly appreciated.

Cheers, Tom

Does it just say 'I can't find a certain file' or does it actually tell you what file it is looking for?

It says error, file not found -

/pub/mirrors/mandrake/8.1/i586/Mandrake/base/mdkinst_stage2.bz2

any ideas

Do a ftp install of Red Hat, Debian, etc.

Mandrake has become a POS.

Wait for a more stable release before using Mandrake.

If you're sure you are actually connected to the internet, just try another mirror.
