Ack! Missing lib file...

Just installed Slack 7.1, and XFree86 4.0.2. When I type startx it dumps me back to the console saying it can't find libncurses.so.4. Where can I find this lib? Or do I even need it? I've already checked Slack disk, and the XFree FTP...

I think you need to install ncurses, get it from here (ftp://ftp.gnu.org/gnu/ncurses/ncurses-5.2.tar.gz). Also you might want to check out the software install nhf (http://www.linuxnewbie.org/nhf/intel/compiling/softinstall.html) (might wanna just skip down to the 'The procedure' bit :)).

I installed the ncurses libs a little while ago, and after wrestling with a few more problems I'm back into KDE. Thanks for the link, I found them a little while ago though... since this forum was down I had to resort to other means... that sucked. Thanks again!

PS: Yeah, I'm the guy from Sharkyforums... glad to see someone else here goes there.
