RH9 Apache?

Being the Newbie that I am....
I have installed RH9 custom setup with almost every package; I want to use the PHP, MySql and Apache setup for development. I was informed that the rpm's would be ready to go, on install. The problems are

1. Does RH9 use Apache? The docs say the HTTP server is based on the work of the Apache foundation. Is that a YES?

2. If so what directory is the HTTP server root located in? (Where I put my .php files such as phpinfo.php).

3. If Apache is not the default HTTP server; I will download the
source and compile it. However, how do I disable the current HTTP server?

Thanks for the help. I have made the switch from windows but the learning curve can be a little steep.

Do a search here on remove RPM. Once you remove an RPM the program has been uninstalled.

The http root directory should be /var/www.

1. Yes, it is Apache.

2. Defaults to /var/www/html but you can change it by editing /etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf and changing 'DocumentRoot'. You might need to make other changes to use PHP also.

3. /sbin/service httpd stop

(also 'start' and 'restart' are useful)
