I am running Slackware 8 on a duron system. I have an Apple Pro USB Keyboard, (that is not functioning correctly). Has anybody had one working under x-windows or know of a place with some docs on doing this? I have tried modprobing all of the HID and usbkbd modules, but everytime its the same thing. The keyboard works great in the terminal and such, but when I startx, I can navigate through X perfectly fine and stuff, until I hit a key on the keyboard, then the keyboard AND the mouse both stop responding and I have to put my ugly ps/2 keyboard in and alt-ctrl-bksp to get out of X.

I would really appreciate advice, thanks.

According to this your keyboard is 100% supported:

Hmm...that does not appear to be the case. I just upgraded my kernel from 2.2.19 to 2.4.5 however and specifically included ALL usb support into the (tremendous) kernel. So let's see how it goes now....

I just noticed you're also from Victoria :)

You also need the input core/keyboard support.

2.4.5 should work for you...

2.4.5 made it so that now, the keyboard never dies, instead as soon as i use kbd in X, keyboard remains but now I just lose mouse.
