Doh!

I run Debian 2.2r2 (Storm). I have been happily cruising the Internet with Linux and my cable modem.

I booted up today and my internet connection did not work! During boot the ethernet init looks like it's about to work but then I get "operation failed". No other explanation.

Here's what my boot log shows:

ne2k-pci.c:vpre-1.00e 5/27/99 D. Becker/P. Gortmaker http://cesdis.gsfc.nasa.gov/linux/drivers/ne2k-pci.html
ne2k-pci.c: PCI NE2000 clone 'RealTek RTL-8029' at I/O 0xfcc0, IRQ 10.
eth0: RealTek RTL-8029 found at 0xfcc0, IRQ 10, 00:E0:29:69:E1:E9.

Operation failed.
Done.

Then it goes on about its business booting up.

It was just working yesterday! I didn't touch anything. And it works in Windows just fine. I turned off my comp and unplugged my cable modem for a minute but that didn't work.

I have looked into some of the HOWTOs but they don't seem to cover this situation. And since I had it working perfectly yesterday I don't think my settings should be messed up.

Anyone have any ideas of where I can start!?

TIA!

P.S. This is also in the tech support forum since I wasn't really sure which was more appropriate.
