im trying to get my apache server up and running.

in order to provide static server for my dynamic ip, i am using the free service from no-ip.com. i know that this works because i can access my ftp server using my url.

apache is running. i can connect to it from the linux machine, and locally through windows machines on the network. i forward port 80 on the router forwarding settings to the local ip address of my linux box, like i did for the ftp server.

now, when i try to connect to the website through the url, the linksys router setup utility pops up. i am unable to figure out how to bypass this. as of right now i dont think it is a no-ip.com problem (can find router) or a server problem (only router screen shows).

i don't know where to take it from here. most solutions i find are more towards the server end, where i don't think the problem is at.

thanks in advance

Just for troubleshooting sake, try typing the address with :80 at the end...

http://site.no-ip.com:80

and see what happens.

Normally you should be able to access the router setup page remotely on port 8080. It's almost like it's defaulting to that.

well, it worked. i typed in the address and hit enter before typing :80 (habit i guess!), and the page came up. it also works with the :80 tagged on at the end.

what is the cause of this? why was it not working 2 hours ago, but now it is working. strange!!

let's go Syracuse!!

DNS entries usually take a few hours to propagate thru the net... It's not uncommon.
Congrats on getting your server to work!
