Recently I networked two PC's together. The first one has a cable connection to the internet, and acts as a proxy server, sharing the net with the second PC. I got the second computer to access the net in Windows, using the proxy settings under Internet Properties. Then I decided to install Linux on that PC, and I can't get it to work. I can ping my proxy server IP, but Netscape just says that I need to reconfigure a SOCKS variable. I'm using KDE, and I set up under the KDE Control Center for all browsers to look for the proxy server--still no luck! Any suggestions?

I'm using a free proxy server called AnalogX Proxy (http://www.analogx.com). I had a bad experience trying to set up Microsoft's Internet Connection Sharing (it never worked), and found AnalogX's software much easier.
