Hello fellow Linux fans!

I am currently running my Linux 8.0 server as a gateway for 6 Machines.

I would like to make an attempt at networking into the gateway using 1394 firewire and out the usual Ethernet to cable modem. I have installed a VIA 1394 OHCI compliant 3 port firewire card. When I use the internet connection wiz on the server, or even try manually, there is no drivers for Firewire, just ethernet and wireless. So, I cannot even make it past the first step. The 1394 was found upon bootup.

Any ideas on how to configure the 1394 for networking on the linux server would be much appreciated. I know that firewire networking works on peer to peer Windows XP, now the question is, will it work on Linux?

Thanks!

Note: I have read a couple of previous posts regarding this and find it to be unresolved at this point in time. I will try a few things listed in the posts. It looks like no one has tested RH 8.0 firewire networking.

Wish me luck!

No go! I guess Linux is not ready for firewire
