its my second day with linux,
and i realy have problems to install and start some programs i downloaded!
For example ******X* and *Freeamp*
i really need your help !!!!

What distro are you using? Did you download the source, or a pre-compiled binary? If it was a binary, what package format is it in?

I'm gonna take a wild shot and guess that you downloaded .rpm's.
If so:
rpm -i <nameofprogram>
Will install it.
rpm -U <nameofprogram>
Will upgrade an existing package.
If you downloaded a tar.gz file, use:
tar -xzvf <nameofprogram>
Then, read the README or install file to get it set up.
