i am doing some backups and work on my email server and would like to temporarily take it offline without disconnecting the server from the network. when i just stop Sendmail emails are not rejected. what do i need to do to actually refuse emails while i'm working ont the system? thanks. pedro

Sorry I don't know much about sendmail myself but do you know any good reading materials for it? Also any graphical front ends for configuration?

Just stop running the sendmail daemon. Depending on which distro you use, the symlinks may be in /etc/init.d or /etc/rc.d or something like that.

kikester: Ksendmail (http://devel-home.kde.org) is a sendmail management system. Search on Tucows Linux, Davecentral and freshmeat for more sendmail configuration utilities
