The problem is when I run cardmgr I get this error:

sincka:~#cardmgr
sincka:~#eth0: pcnet_reset_8390() did not complete.
pcnet_cs: unable to read hardware net address for io base 0x300

What does all of that gibrish mean... any suggestions to what to do next? Now I've never tried this before... I've been trying to figure out the problem for a while now but I sort of gave up. If any of you can help me... thank you :)

Do you know that is the module that you network card use? If you do try to do insmod <module card> or modprob if it works fine it means that's the correct module to use and he is detecting the network card, if so you can edit rc.config and setup your network manualy, well rc.config is in suse, i don't know the name of the file on your system. It think this is enought to make it work, if you can't make work with the module, try to find a new one you contact the company that made the card

I am using the right drivers... resolv.conf, /etc/pcmcia/* files are configured properly. My guess is I somehow need to change the io and the irq... and I don't know where to start.

Thanx for the help though :P

Wow is that a network card (pci) or is a pcmcia card?

If you dual boot go into windows and under its device manager see what resourses the card is using.

Otherwise, look on the card manufacturers web page for a utility to change the resourses. I have a PCI net card and unfortunately, the only way to change the IRQ or IO is to get the DOS software from the webpage, boot using a DOS disk, and then run the utility from there.

If you don't dual boot, go ask one of your windows-using friends to make you a boot disk.
