Boy oh boy, the problems never end...
Anyways, so I have redhat installed and everything but xfree86 doesn't work, right?
Well, I tried running XFree86Config, and picking everything that seems to make sense. (For graphics card I picked Nvidia Geforce 2), And I still get stupid errors... So I checked the log file and everything seemed alright (I guess) until I saw:
(II)LoadModule : "v41"
(WW)Warning, couldn't open module v41
(II)UnloadModule : "v41"
(EE)Failed to load module "v41" (Module does not exist, 0)
(II)Loadmodule "nv"
~~
Everything looks alright for a while near the end where it's showing a bunch of Nvidia card names in a list and it says under that line:
(something about PCI that I probably shoulda wrote down)
(EE) No devices detected.
Well, there you have it...
* * *
So I decided to try installing Mandrake, which is supposed to be easier, right?
Well, I put the CD in, and the installer starts working(in ugly text mode), and after a message about initializing the CDROM, I get:
Error
mount failed : invalid argument
and a new right after saying
Error mounting ramdisk. This shouldn't happen, and I'm rebooting your system now.
Please help. This stuff is fun, even if nothing works. :)
Thanks.
