does anybody know how to load the redhat installation using loadlin? i downloaded the iso's and then realized i had no blank cd's, then i burnt up my floppy drive (dont ask) so i cant make a boot disk and install directly from my hd, now my only hope is to somehow load the installation from within dos/loadlin using my win98 restore cd. anybody care to help a lost newbie?  :D

I can't answer your question, but I do want to know how you fried your disk drive. =) Just tell the story when the thread gets too low on the page, or if you just suddenly feel the urge to.

lol, well i took the damn thing out while i put a new case on, then after all that good stuff was done and i was ready to put the floppy back the damn thing wouldnt go inside the bay, i tried forcing it in with no luck then the bottom of the stupid thing fell off and i set it down on top of a 5.25" bay and was just gonna let it set there until i could get it in, then i turned on the comp forgetting that the bottom had fallen off and well, metal case+bottom of floppy touching=POOF!

before i edited the post i said "while i put a new mobo in" err, wasnt thinking clearly.

Honestly, if I were you, I'd just get some more CDs. =)

Now for me, I believe the only program in WinME that can read iso's is my CD burning software, so it's not like I can uncompress them on the HD as a fake CD. I have seen with other distro's, an option to download just the first CD as a bunch of files, and you can then try either a real install, or an install under lin4win or whatever.....I guess. I'm a whole lot newer than you (see here (http://www.linuxnewbie.org/cgi-bin/ubbcgi/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=1&t=024140)), so don't take my word for it.

You'll want the CD's burned later anyway. Why not just wait?
