I've tried most of the major distros out there (Mandrake - Very easy, if not slightly slow : Slackware - Hard to setup, but damn stable : RedHat - Blah. Big big blah.) And, for awhile, I've been hearing about Debian. Now, which of those three distros is Debian most comparable too. I'm actually worried about setup the most. If I can get through the setup, I'm good afterwards.

Okay, just thought I'd ask before I download large ISO files.

P.S. Please try to be objective as possible - I am looking for honest opinions.

In terms of setup, Debian is closer to Slackware of those three. No nice GUI in the setup, but give it a try, it's not really that difficult. Also, once installed, Debian is also closer to Slackware in that there are no nice configuration tools available, most everything is configured manually. But go for it, we are always here to help. What problems were you have with Slackware?

The main problems that I was having? Hmmm...you want the long list, or the really long list.

Now, granted, I STARTED with Slackware. I don't recommend that to everybody. But...I basically couldn't get most of my hardware working (except my monitor, keyboard, and mouse). So...I really didn't feel like I could do anything.

Maybe I'll give Debian a try. As soon as I make some time...
