In this case, ' fdisk ' is not a linux program. It's an msdos program. You need to get a bootable msdos or windows disk that has fdisk on it. Then you can run the command ' fdisk /mbr ' and that will restore your mbr.

linuxcool:
if fdisk is a dos program, how come when I run slackware setup it requests I use fdisk to setup the partitions?

If you have the install cd, you should be able to boot off of that and mount the installed file system. Is that what you're looking for?

I remember posting to that one.

Something like

I'm not Mr. FoBoT, but will I do.

And then didn't I go on to suggest you use a dos/windows bootdisk that contains fdisk. Boot with it and then at the command prompt, fdisk /mbr and then lilo is gone from the mbr.
