Hey there guys, this may not be the right forum or even the right place to ask this, but I'm flat out of ideas.

Anyhow, I run a RH 7.1 web / email box and I've set up dozens of email addies for others before and they never have had a problem. So I set up an @mydomain.com email address up for my g/f but the error message that keeps coming up from her email client is "cannot connect to outgoing server". If I try to telnet to port 25 / 110 from her machine to my box it won't connect - but it WILL on every other machine I've tried (outside my router), so I'm pretty sure it has something to do with her machine.

She can receive email just fine, just can't send it.

The question is - what could be causing this? If it's any help, she's on Sympatico High Speed Internet. Thanks again!

-What OS is she running?

-Is she also connecting remotely, or is she local (on your LAN)?

Windows XP (Pro Corp I believe) and yes, she's trying to connect remotely.

Does she run ZoneAlarm?

Figured it out :). Turns out that you have to use Sympatico's outgoing mail server - every other smtp server is blocked. Man that is ridiculous!
