Installation goes smoothly until it tries to test X-Windows on my moniter it shows the following on the screen:

/tmp/imm.o: init_module: No such device
/tmp/ppa.o: init_module: No such device

It stays on my screen and I can't continue with installation and I have no choice but to turn the PC on and off and start installation over, then the same thing keeps on happening.
I know it shouldn't be happening because I already installed Linux-Mandrake 8.1 Beta 3 and it worked fine on my system.
The only thing I did different in this install was select ReiserFS rather than ext2.

Anyone know what's wrong or is there a fix available?

When you get to that message, do a CTRL-ALT-Backspace to restart the X server. Should be fine from there. Consider it a quick "wake-up" slap on the side of the monitor. :)

Heh, that's kind of weird because when I installed LM 8.1 yesterday, it never asked me if I wanted to test my configuration. If you have to reinstall Mandrake, or go through the whole install again, try and see if you can opt out of testing the X configuration. All I did was select my monitor, how much memory I had on my video card, what resolution I wanted and if I wanted X to start when I started my computer. :) Works and is working fine for me. :)

Ctrl+Alt+Backspace doesn't work for me.
Nothing happens, I'm tired of installing Mandrake now!
I'm going to download Debian now...

Thanks anyways though, I appreciate it :)
