I was just wondering? How powerful is wine?
Can I run my office XP suite using the windows emulator or is there another way for me to get Office XP running on my linux box? Is it possible?

crossover office isn't free doftware.

as the poster above said, openoffice is free and (mostly) compatible. i use OpenOffice 99% of the time. the only time i use MS Office is if something won't open properly in OpenOffice.

i have to agree. open office is the way to go. it's so easy to install.

http://openoffice.org

go and install it; you will never go back to MS what ever again. besides; why would you want to run MS office on a linux machine. if you go linux then go all the way. the only time i use wine is if i can't find something for linux and i don't use wine at all. get the idea.

openoffice is great. you can save your files in MS format so someone else can use it on their windows machine. that is; if it doesn't crash on them!!!!!!

see ya

I agree, you get the same results with open office. You can make .doc files and ppt presentations. And its free and you won't have to deal with wine and all that other crap. Just give it shot.
