i downloaded Linux Doom from ZDNET and now I have no idea how to install it. I have read ALL the readme files, but to no avail. I am a newbie for sure.

Here are the file I have in my doom-1.8 dir:

README
README.config
README.dos
README.linuxx
README.linuxs
doom1.wad
libvga.so.1@
libvga.so.1.2.0*
sdoom*
sndserver*
xdoom*

Ok, now what do I do? Any body?

Read the README and the README.xx or put all your doom files in that directory and you'll probably want to type ./xdoom while you're still in the doom directory unless for some funky reason you're in pure CLI mode, in which case, you would type ./sdoom instead. If you're unsure, use the former command.

When I type ./sdoom or ./xdoom I get the message

"cannot execute binary file"


hmm....

Trust me I have read all the readme's, but they are no help.

I really want to play doom :)
