Hey all,

Just wondering if someone could help with getting 4 speaker + subwoofer stereo sound working.

I'm using Mandrake 8.1 with a SB live Value and Cambridge Soundworks FPS 2000 digital speaker system. I have mono coming out of the front speakers and nothing outta the back set or Subwoofer.

I checked all of the sound mixing software but there is no place to select the number of speakers you have.

Any info would be appreciated

TIA Willy

Hmmmmm...that's weird. I have a similar setup, and every speaker works for me. The only thing I had to do to set this up is to buy a Y-Splitter which allowed me to expand the number of ports for speakers to plug into on the back of my computer. My sub and two of my speakers are plugged into one side, and my two other speakers are plugged into the other side. Worked fine after I did that.

I'm surprised you are getting any sound at all since there is no support for digital sound in linux for any sound card yet. In fact, for the SB Live/SB Live Value, you need the offical drivers from Creative Labs(not the Microsoft certified ones that come with windows), for digital out put in Windows9x/SE/ME/2000/XP. Normal analog speakers will work fine. 2 channel stereo in linux, 4 channel stereo in windows.

Thanks for the fast replies.

I am in fact using the digital output connection out of my SB Live and digital input to the back of my amp/woofer via the digital connector. I dunno if it's supposed to work but it does....kinda :)

I will look at getting a Y-Cable splitter and going the analog route.

Thanks again
