easy mouse question

i re-installed slack 8.0, and my mouse doesn't work,

i have a 2 button generic mouse set up on ttys0, but the mouse doesn't work in X,

i tried editing XF86Config, and under input controlers it was set up for ps/2, so i switched it to 2 button, and x wouldn't run at all......any ideas?

It sounds like ttys0 is your serial port? If so, you need to find the option for serial mouse in XF86Config. I don't think the 2 button mouse option will tell it what port it's connected to. Are you sure it's not a PS/2 mouse? Just wondering.
