Ok here is the deal. I boot up and everything goes perfect. About 30 seconds to a minute later the computer restarts. This is after I log in, and/or before X starts. It doesn't matter if I'm in KDE, Gnome, or even running out of the terminel before x starts. I have downloaded it 3 times from differnet locations and wasted 5 cd's so far. My computer is only a few weeks old. Win98 and Red Hat work fine. If I put Slackware 8.1 back on it works fine in the same partition. I'm using the bare.i kernel with the ext3 file system. At setup I installed all packages.

I put 8.1 back on. Everything worked fine with 8.1 and I was just upgrading to 9.0 just for fun anyway. I compiled a custom 2.4.20 kernel for 8.1 so I'm happy again. I looked at my 9.0 /var/log/messages and didn't find any problems. That's when I desided to put 8.1 back on. Thanks for trying to help anyway.:)

Exactly. I like 8.1 better. That's just me. *roll eyes*
You can buy a CD from me for one thousand gallons of gas. :D

I got it fiqured out. The 2.4.20 bare.i kernel that comes with 9.0 is unstable on MY computer. Maybe not on all motherboards. I don't know what it is or why it does it. I copied and pasted a 2.4.18 bare.i kernel from 8.1 and the computer acts normal now. I then could use Slackware to recompile a 2.4.20 custom kernel and all seems well. First bug in Slack I have ever seen or heard of.
