Does slack 7.1 support soudblaster live value?

I've already tried the solution found atthe local NHF without much luck if I may say.

Would I have to recompile my Kernel?

If you have managed to get your sounblaster live value on slcakware 7.1 Please tell me how you did it.

Thank you all.

I don't have a SoundBlaster Live, but I remember seeing in /etc/rc.d/rc.modules where you could uncomment the line that loads the SoundBlaster Live module. Check to see if the that particular module is already compiled in this file: /lib/modules/2.2.16/misc. I'm not at my Linux box at the moment, so I'm trying to remember the exact files by memory. Hope this helps.

Thanks, I'll give it a shot.
Unfortunately, that'll have to wait until I get home tonight. :(

I made it back to my Linux box and yes the emu10k1.o module needed for the SoundBlaster Live soundcard is already compiled into the kernel. Just uncomment the line in /etc/rc.d/rc.modules. Hope this helps.

I've got a Soundblaster live running in Slack 7.1. I just uncommented the module in rc.modules AND chmod 777 /dev/dsp. Works great. When you recompile be sure to recompile sound as a module.

Thank you all for your help.
The weirdest thing happened when I got home tonight. I booted my machine into slack and I had sound, go figure.

Later.
