hello,
let me give you the background in the problem. i am on a break from school for the next week, and since i had a project due i decided to bring my linux box back home with me. now, i never used javac at school, but i just assumed it came standard on the machine. i was wrong. i dont have a modem in my linux machine (56k here) so it is a real pain. the files off of suns website are self extracting, so downloading on this windows machine isn't going to work. i am just looking for 1 rpm file so i can download, then burn on a cd so i can install it, and start working on my project. i want to try to avoid tar.gz files because i am not too confident in installing them. but i would take that if someone had a link to a tar.gz file.
does anyone know of a spot that has the sdk up for download? i have been looking for the past 2 hours and i can't find anything. it's a real pain trying to search on 56k. anyways, i am running rh7.3. if anyone could post a link i would be greatly appreciated, i really need javac!!

thanks in advance.

try checking out blackdown java, it has a pretty easy installer.

http://java.sun.com there is a link on the right hand side under "Popular Downloads" and click on j2se 1.4.1 sdk and select the your platform and et cetera, i'd post a direct link but the site is currently down but it should be up shortly enough and probably before you even read this =D

Your best bet would be find someone on cable/DSL and download that 40MB something file.
