I installed Mandrake 8.0 and it installed software and features that I just wanted to try (been a newbie to linux), now I want to remove a lot of software and just have what I liked - question is would it be easier to just uninstall all the software I want to get rid of or reinstall Mandrake totaly?

also I still have win98 on my pc with a lot of downloads, mp3s, movies, uni work etc that I don't want to lose but I want to get rid of that graphical boot loader and the only ways I've found of doing this is fsidk /mbr or that restorrb.exe file on the mandrake cd ... are these safe ways of doing it without risking losing any files on my windows drive? What I want to do is set my comp up something like in that LoadLin NHF.

I have windows setup on the C drive (20gig)
and mandrake on D drive (4gig)

Just a quick question: why dont you want a graphical lilo?

just curious...

theres a few pasts to this answer, firstly, go into mandrake control center, choose boot, then choose text not graphical i think.

that's correct. Mandrake Control Panel can change that to the "traditional" style easily. If you want to uninstall software though, and don't have anything on your linux drives yet, reinstall. The dependency problems will get annoying.
